What Sorell Locals Already Know About This Little Corner of Gordon Street

Some places take a while to find. This is one of them.

Not because it is hidden. But because the best things in small Tasmanian towns tend to spread by word of mouth before they ever make it online. Someone mentions it over coffee. A friend brings home something beautiful and you ask where it came from. A tourist stumbles in and tells everyone they know.

That is how Tasman Artisan House has been growing since the day we opened our green door on Gordon Street.

We are a gallery and retail shop dedicated entirely to Tasmanian makers. Not imports. Not mass produced. Everything here was made by someone who lives on this island, who works with their hands, and who puts real care into every single piece they create.

Resin jewellery that captures Tasmanian botanicals. Leather bags that age beautifully with every adventure. Handturned timber pieces made from sustainably sourced local wood. Screenprinted linen made with eco inks by a woman who cares deeply about what she leaves behind. Ceramic creatures inspired by Tasmanian wildlife. Tie dye clothing hand dyed with love for the whole family.

This is what Tasmanian creativity actually looks like when you give it a proper home.

Sorell sits at the gateway to the Tasman Peninsula and most people drive straight through. We think that is a shame. There is so much here worth slowing down for and Tasman Artisan House is one of those reasons.

Come in on a Tuesday morning when it is quiet.

Come in on a Saturday with the family.

Come in when you need a gift that actually means something or when you just want to see something made with real skill and real heart.
