Tucked along Gordon Street in the heart of Sorell, Tasmania, Tasman Artisan House is the kind of place that makes you slow down. Walk through the door and you will find handmade art, locally crafted jewellery, gourmet Tasmanian produce, and one-of-a-kind creations from some of the most talented makers on the island.
This is not a catalogue. These are the works of real people with real stories, crafted by hands that have spent years perfecting their trade.
Every maker here brings something different. Anthony and Susan blend industrial art with timber and imagination. Georgia shapes ceramic creatures inspired by Tasmanian wildlife.
Eve screenprints linen by hand using eco inks because she cares about the story she leaves behind. Nick turns leather and canvas into bags that get better with age. Celeste preserves Tasmanian botanicals in resin so you can wear a piece of the island wherever you go.
And that is just the beginning.
Alongside the gallery and shop, there is a specialty cafe next door where you can settle in with a great coffee and let the creativity sink in. Most people come in for a browse and leave with something they did not expect to find.
That is exactly the point.
If you are driving through the Tasman Peninsula, planning a day trip from Hobart, or simply looking for a gift that actually means something, Tasman Artisan House is worth the stop.
Come in. Meet the makers. Take something home.
We are open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 3pm at 21A Gordon Street, Sorell, Tasmania.
